  The wire is pure copper. This means it is semi precious in itself. Copper has a spring to it that allows slight bending to return to shape instantly making it less prone to shipping damage and accidents by pets and children. 

  This wire is uncoated it will naturally patina over time. You can let it darken and take on beautiful blues and greens over the years if outdoors. If you wish to keep it as made simply wipe it with a cloth once a month. Non tarnishing bright wire is available on request.
